Today, in the premises of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, a meeting was held between the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and Minister of Defence, Radmila Shekerinska, and the Vice-Chairman of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Zhang Qingli.

During the meeting the excellent relations were stressed between the two countries and peoples based on mutual trust and respect.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia and Minister of Defence, Radmila Shekerinska, welcomed the cooperation that the Republic of Macedonia and the People’s Republic of China are realizing in the field of economy, culture and education. The 16 + 1 Initiative was noted, which Shekerinska assessed as a positive example of the role that a large country and economy such as the People’s Republic of China can have in the context of enhanced regional cooperation, and also welcomed and praised the cooperation in the domain of defence.

Shekerinska expressed appreciation for the support of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and the good cooperation with the Ambassador and the defence attaché.

The Vice-Chairman of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Zhang Qingli, expressed gratitude for the warm reception in the Republic of Macedonia and stressed that he is impressed by the beauties of the country, metaphorically comparing the visit to the Ohrid region with the movement through a painting.

He welcomed, as he said, the dynamics of development and positive changes in the Macedonian society and the readiness of the Government to improve the lives of citizens in the country. He briefed on the measures taken by the People’s Republic of China to combat poverty and the success achieved in this field, as well as the steps taken in the context of achieving rapid economic growth.

Qingli pledged to boost cooperation in all areas, especially in the fields of economy, culture and tourism, and praised the development of the cooperation between the two countries in the defence. He welcomed the 16 + 1 Initiative and the results of the last meeting in Sofia, where Prime Minister Zoran Zaev met with the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Keqiang, where the readiness of the two countries to open the prospects for deepening economic cooperation was confirmed.
