The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Macedonia, Radmila Shekerinska, is on a one-day official visit of Kosovo today.
On the meeting in Pristina, the Minister of Defence, Shekerinska, and the Minister of the Kosovo Security Forces, Rustem Berisha, stressed that the bilateral cooperation between the two ministries is at the highest level. This cooperation is particularly good in the field of military education and they expressed their willingness for it to continue to intensively develop in the future as well.
“Macedonia remains open for education of cadets from Kosovo at the Military Academy, where cadets from Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina are also studying. They are the future military leaders of our countries. If they learn to cooperate well and build trust and cooperation, our countries will have a better future”, the Minister said.
The Minister announced that the members of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia will be part of the regional exercise “Eagle VI”, which will be held in May in Kosovo. She pointed out the interest in using the facilities of the Kosovo Search and Rescue Centre, and offered the capacities in Macedonia such as the Public Affairs Regional Centre, the Military Medical Centre and Military Range Krivolak.
In the framework of the visit, Shekerinska had a meeting with the Kosovo Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj.
Macedonia and Kosovo are two friendly countries, whose relations are based on mutual respect, trust and openness for cooperation, Minister Shekerinska and Prime Minister Haradinaj concluded at the meeting. The Minister stressed that Macedonia firmly believes that the good neighbourly relations are the right path to a developed and prosperous region. Shekerinska pointed out that the joint session of the two governments planned for this year will strengthen and advance the cooperation between Macedonia and Kosovo.
The Minister will also meet in the afternoon with KFOR Commander, Major General Salvatore Cuoci.
