Minister Shekerinska to the students of the Faculty of Security: The principles of freedom and democratic values will make the state stronger

The Minister of Defence, Radmila Shekerinska, addressed the new students of the Faculty of Security – Skopje, on the occasion of the start of the new academic year and the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the faculty.

“Today we are in an academic environment where the word freedom is imminent, academic freedom, freedom to think differently, freedom to speak louder, and I want to tell you that with these principles of freedom of real true democratic values, different opinions which we will not experience as a weakness, but as a greater force, we will make the Republic of Macedonia stronger. And the only way for the country to advance in the long run is if we give a chance to you, the younger generation” – Minister Shekerinska stressed.

“Without the feeling that we are safe here, that we can plan our future, everything else doesn’t matter and that’s why a great challenge is in front of you and a great career opportunity. A country like the Republic of Macedonia can move forward economically only if we can guarantee the security of our homeland, which is linked to the security of the region, security in Europe, security in the world”, Shekerinska said.

Shekerinska added that she is convinced that the students will work to make Macedonia a safer country, a NATO member and stressed that quality people are always needed in defence and security, areas that have great chances for self-advancement and learning.

“We are extremely pleased that Macedonia can participate in the NATO program for the advancement of education in the area of ​​defence. This means that you will have a great benefit from it. That means that your professors will have the opportunity to use this program to improve their teaching, but above all it means that you will be able to go on additional trainings, and monitor where the world is moving in terms of defence and security”.

Minister Shekerinska said that the function of teachers and education is to prepare students for life, and to advise students – if they use the knowledge of the professors, if they be themselves and if they learn, success is imminent.
