Minister Shekerinska made a visit to NATO headquarters in Brussels, where she held separate meetings with the NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Alejandro Alvargonzález, and Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning, Heinrich Brauss.
During the talks with NATO officials, the interlocutors exchanged views on the current processes in the Republic of Macedonia – implementation of Plan 3-6-9 of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia and the focus on judicial reforms, intelligence and security services, media freedom and transparency, as well as defence reform processes. Both interlocutors sent strong support for the reform-oriented Government of the Republic of Macedonia and its efforts to meet the necessary criteria in the Euro-Atlantic integration processes.
The meetings were held on the sidelines of the meeting of Defence Ministers of NATO member states and countries participating in the “Resolute Support” mission, which was held yesterday. On this meeting, Minister Shekerinska highlighted the strategic goals of the Republic of Macedonia for NATO membership and announced an accelerated pace and reforms towards meeting NATO criteria and standards, as well as the increased contribution of the Republic of Macedonia in NATO operations
