Defence Minister Radmila Shekerinska addressed the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia right before the NATO summit in Brussels with a video message.
In the video message Minister Sekerinska stressed that in the next two days Macedonia will sit on the same table with world powers, and that since 2008 citizens have seen what it means to live in an uncertain country and an unstable region.
“Tomorrow and the day after in Brussels, the Republic of Macedonia will sit on the same table with world powers. Our country will officially receive the invitation for NATO membership. We missed this chance in 2018 and from then on, things have gone wrong. We have seen what it means to live in an uncertain country and an unstable region. We passed through many crises, and the state stagnated in every field. Dear fellow citizens, in the past 10 years, one thing has become clear – without open perspectives for NATO and EU membership, the future of Macedonia is uncertain. NATO membership is a historic opportunity that we must use now. Thus, the Republic of Macedonia will become a partner and ally with the most powerful countries in the world. NATO membership will bring stability and safety for the Republic of Macedonia and its citizens. But it will also bring a chance for faster economic development and prosperity”, the Minister said.
Shekerinska points out that in the last year major changes were made, big steps forward, and difficult problems were solved.
“We have shown that Macedonia can do better. I am proud of what has been achieved, we are moving forward”, Minister Shekerinska said in her video address.
