Meeting of Minister Shekerinska with the Ambassador of Spain Abaroa Carranza

Today in the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Macedonia, the Minister of Defence, Radmila Shekerinska, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain, H.E. Ramón Abaroa Carranza.

At the meeting Minister Shekerinska stressed that the new Government of the Republic of Macedonia is committed to stabilizing the country and setting it on the right path towards NATO and EU membership. She said that following the changes that occurred in our country, the new Government is intensively working on reforms such as: media freedom, judiciary, cooperation with the civil society and that it is particularly working on improving the good neighbourly policy, which is extremely important for the entire region.

“We have a different approach towards our neighbours and we want to create a positive climate in terms of policy with our neighbours. This is good for the stability and development of the region”, said Shekerinska.

She added that cooperation with the Kingdom of Spain is good, but that it needs to be intensified.

“We are grateful for the opportunity that Spain offers to our members for training and education in prestigious military schools in the Kingdom, as well as the language training, and at the same time we would like to offer you our facilities such as the Military Range Krivolak, where joint exercises can be realized for the benefit of both armies” – said Minister Shekerinska.

On this occasion Ambassador Abaroa Carranza first sent congratulations on the new energy that this Government has and wished Minister Shekerinska success in this position. He stressed that Spain has always supported Macedonia in its intentions to integrate into NATO and the EU. Ambassador Abaroa Carranza agreed that it is necessary to intensify the bilateral cooperation and added that the possibility for training and education of ARM members has been opened.
