Today, the Minister of Defence, Radmila Shekerinska, met with Fiona Mcilwham, Director for Western Balkans and Enlargement at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom.
“The new Government is committed to solving the problems and promoting good neighbourly relations. We will offer a new kind of foreign policy and we will implement the reforms”, the Minister said at the meeting.
She added that in terms of defence reform, the definition of priorities is high on the agenda and in that direction she pointed out that expert assistance from the United Kingdom in implementing reforms is more than welcome.
In the context of the country’s strategic priorities, the Minister said that Macedonia remains firmly committed to integration in the NATO Alliance, which will not only bring greater security for our country, but also greater stability and prosperity for the entire region.
The Director for Western Balkans, Mcilwham, gave full support to the Euro-Atlantic integrations of Macedonia and expressed readiness for active support in expert and technical assistance in the process of implementing the reforms. “The United Kingdom and the entire international community want to see Macedonia in the Euro-Atlantic family, but the country is expected to show visible results from the conducted reforms”, Mcilwham said at the meeting.
