Strategic talks for promoting defence cooperation between Macedonia and France

Today an expert delegation from the Ministry of Defense hosted a delegation from the General Directorate for International Cooperation and Strategy n the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of France, led by Olivier Landau, Director of Europe, North America and Multilateral Cooperation.

At the beginning of the meeting, Defense Minister Radmila Sekerinska welcomed the representatives of the expert delegation from France, expressing her gratitude for the continuing support that the Republic of France has provided to the Republic of Macedonia in the field of defense.

She said that the promotion of cooperation is of great importance for the Republic of Macedonia on its road to NATO, especially given the role and importance of France in NATO, the EU, the UN, as well as within the framework of the Common Security and Defense Policy. Shekerinska introduced the experts from France with the current activities of the Government and the Ministry of Defense for restarting the reform process in order to achieve the strategic goal of the Republic of Macedonia – NATO membership.

The meeting, which was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of France to Macedonia, H.E. Christian Thimonier, stems from the plan for bilateral co-operation with the Republic of France and the goal was that the defense experts from Macedonia and France could exchange views on a number of strategic issues, as well as open up opportunities for expanding the cooperation.
