The NATO Deputy Secretary General, Rose Gottemoeller, sent a special video message to the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Macedonia, Radmila Shekerinska, and to the women in the Republic of Macedonia.
In her message, the NATO Deputy Secretary General, Gottemoeller, states:
“Today, we mark International Women’s Day. For us at NATO, today and everyday, we promote women’s participation in all areas of security and defence. Women can and do act as catalyst to peaceful conflict resolution. We can and do play leading roles in the prevention of conflicts and in strengthening the rule of law and good governance. We know that peace is best secured through inclusion. We know that, while we have much more to do, we are making progress. We want NATO to be a global leader in the equal rights and the equal participation of women. I know that you are also committed, and I would like to commend the Deputy Prime Minister Shekerinska and her team for the work that they are doing in this area. Thank you and have a great international women’s day.”
Gottemoeller’s message was broadcasted on the panel organized by the Ministry of Defence on the topic “Gender Perspectives in the Defence” on the occasion of the International Women’s Day.
